gas
Gas is what most Toronto homes actually want. It lights at the flip of a switch, throws real and consistent heat through a long winter, runs on a thermostat, and asks nothing of you beyond an annual service. Every gas fireplace we sell is direct vent, which means it is sealed behind glass, draws its combustion air from outside, exhausts outside, and uses none of your room air.
Linear or traditional
This is the first fork, and it is aesthetic rather than technical. Linear units are wide and low with a long ribbon of flame, and they anchor contemporary rooms and feature walls. Traditional units are taller with a log set and glowing embers, and they read as a fireplace the way most people picture one. Both heat properly. Browse built-in gas fireplaces for either, or gas stoves if a freestanding unit suits the room better, which is often the cheapest way to put fire where there has never been any.
New build or existing fireplace?
If you have a wood-burning fireplace sitting unused, a gas insert is usually the answer: it slides into the existing masonry opening and vents up the old chimney through new liners, so you skip most of the construction. If you are building a new wall, a built-in gives you full freedom of format, including see-through, corner and indoor-outdoor. Our wood-to-gas conversion guide compares the routes honestly, and the installation cost guide covers what drives the number.
Size it to the room, not the wall
Oversizing is the most common mistake we correct. Our lineup runs from about 16,000 BTU to past 60,000, and a large linear in a small sealed room will drive you out of it. Room size sets the range and taste narrows it. Our best gas fireplaces guide walks through choosing, and the venting guide explains why placement is far more flexible than people expect: no chimney required, just a wall or roof run.
The brands on our floor
Regency is our deepest lineup and the one we install most, Napoleon is built in Barrie, Ontario, and Marquis makes the Capri, the insert that fits more Toronto fireboxes than any other. Alongside them we carry Heat & Glo, Montigo, Savannah, Heatilator, Astria, Archgard and Majestic.
Installed and serviced by our own team
Gas work in Ontario is licensed work: connecting a gas appliance requires a TSSA-certified technician, and the building code dictates clearances and venting. We handle that as part of every installation, and we service and repair gas fireplaces year-round, including units we did not sell. The best way to choose is still to see them burning, so visit the showroom at 18 Lola Rd or call (416) 482-8585.
Frequently asked questions
Regency, Napoleon, Marquis, Heat & Glo, Montigo, Savannah, Heatilator, Astria, Archgard and Majestic, plus RH Peterson Real Fyre gas log sets. Regency is our deepest lineup and Napoleon is built in Barrie, Ontario. We service all of them, and most other major brands, whether or not the fireplace came from us.
No. Direct vent gas fireplaces vent horizontally through an exterior wall or vertically through the roof using their own sealed pipe, so they can go in almost any room. A chimney only matters when an insert reuses an existing one.
Yes, and it is one of the most popular projects we do. A gas insert fits into the existing masonry opening and vents up the chimney through new liners, turning a drafty wood fireplace into an efficient, remote-controlled heater. No more hauling wood or shovelling ash.
As a rough guide, a room under about 300 square feet suits a compact unit around 18,000 BTU, while larger open spaces take 30,000 and up. Oversizing is the most common mistake, so size to the room rather than to the wall you want to fill.
It depends on the model, the venting route and any gas line work your home needs, so pricing varies quite a bit. Visit our showroom or call and we will put together a written quote for your space. Our installation cost guide covers typical market ranges and what drives them.
Yes, once a year. An annual service cleans the burner and glass, tests the ignition and safety controls, and checks the venting. Every major manufacturer specifies it, and some warranties depend on it, so keep your service records.
Often yes, with the right clearances and usually a mantel or heat management system to deflect rising heat away from the screen. Some units, such as the Marquis Enclave, are rated for zero clearance to a TV above. Always check the manual for your specific model.
