Gas fireplace maintenance

Annual cleaning, inspection and tune-ups that keep your gas fireplace safe, efficient and under warranty.

Keep your gas fireplace safe and efficient

A gas fireplace works hard through a Toronto winter. An annual service keeps it burning cleanly and safely, catches small problems while they are still small and inexpensive, and keeps most manufacturer warranties valid. Manufacturers recommend yearly professional service for exactly these reasons.

What our multi-point service includes

Every maintenance visit follows the same thorough routine, adapted to your fireplace model:

  1. Remove and clean the glass front, logs and ember bed
  2. Clean the burner and pilot assembly
  3. Test the pilot, ignition system and flame sensor
  4. Check gas connections for leaks
  5. Inspect venting for blockages and proper draft
  6. Verify safety controls and shutoff operation
  7. Clean the blower fan and firebox interior
  8. Test the remote, wall switch or thermostat
  9. Confirm operation against the manufacturer's specifications
  10. Review findings with you and flag anything to watch

Frequently asked questions

Once a year. Annual service keeps the fireplace burning safely and efficiently, and most manufacturers expect regular maintenance as a warranty condition.

Yes. For wood-burning fireplaces and stoves we inspect the firebox, gaskets and door seals and advise on chimney sweeping, and electric units get a careful inspection and cleaning. We service all major brands regardless of where the unit was purchased.

A typical annual service takes about an hour, depending on the condition of the fireplace and whether any issues turn up during the inspection.
